Goodies for the day

The most crazy thing happened to my mother a couple weeks back. SHE GOT AN iPhone! You may not think that's too crazy, but for my mom it is! Going from "I'm never going to have a cell phone" to "I really like this. I'm like a little kid at Christmas I can't sleep at night because I want to learn how to use it more..." She cracks me up! It's been easier teaching her how to use her phone rather than teaching her how to use the computer. I lose my patience with the whole computer thing... She's had quite the breakthrough! GO KATHY! Welcome to the world of technology (the world you never wanted to enter)!

Double date night with Lisa and Jacob. We went mini-golfing at Outer Limits. Alex is a man of many talents, and I have just a couple.. but MINI GOLF is not one of them. For either of us. We hopped on the struggle bus that night. It was still fun to go, and the cosmic lighting made it bearable to deal with the loss :)

Jill and I visited our long time friends Brad aka Chief Rising Son, and Tyson aka Tangled Roots a few days ago. We haven't seen these two in quite some time and it was time for a visit. It was so good to catch up and laugh till we peed our pants a little bit.

I wasn't able to snap a picture of our visit, but this will suffice. This is our road trip to Seattle a year and a half ago. One of the best trips of my life! It's crazy how fast time has gone since that trip and how different our lives are now, but The DANKNESS will always have a special place in my heart! What gems :)

Alex wasn't feeling well this last week and I was trying to think of a way to cheer him up and maybe put a smile on his face during this exhausting week. I wrapped this beauty up and left it on his doorstep on Thursday eve.

HOO can't sleep? Well this OWL eye cover may be of help. And HOO doesn't love Oreo's when you're feeling crappy? Golden Vanilla is my FIRST favorite, but Golden Chocolate is Alex's FIRST favorite. And this isn't about me, so I got my SECOND favorite to make him happy (Jill Burnham, I hope you appreciate those underlined words).

This is the card I left with the sweet surprise!

Last Friday Lisa and I made the drive to Idaho Falls to see our best friend, Shalene! We don't get to see her often, so we planned a girls night. We went to Pachangas, which is the best Mexican restaurant in Idaho Falls. Highly recommend it. After dinner we had dessert at Perkins and then headed to the Redbox for some goodies. Nothing too special there and the movie we picked didn't even work in her DVD player.. pathetic. My Big Fat Greek Wedding was the choice of the night, and it was probably a better GOODIE than the dang Redbox we ordered. It was so good to see Shalene. She's been one of my closest friends and has helped me get through a lot. We were destined to meet when we did! I'm blessed to know her and have her in my life.

This kid loves RUBIK's cubes. At first he was just obsessed with the 3x3, but now that he has a 4x4 and a 5x5 he's bound and determined to get them figured out and solved. And he did. He's smart. I could never figure that out. My brain doesn't work that way.

After figuring out his RUBIK's cubes Saturday night, he whipped out his guitar and started to serenade me. Can't get enough of him playing the guitar. What girl doesn't wish her boyfriend would sing while playing the guitar for her? I'd say 2.6% of girls wouldn't. But they're weirdos and don't know what they're missing. It's SO great!

Another talent of Alex's... FOOD. Does this guy have any imperfections or flaws? I'll let you be the judge of that one ;) He's awesome at Barbecuing/cooking. That fella is magical in the kitchen! ha, magical. Would magical even work as a good word to use? I don't know, but he's a master chef and not afraid to try new things. Everything we make together turns out pretty marvelous. Here's our Sunday dinner last night. BBQ steak, rolls, and peas. It was deLISH!

Life is still bringing lots of happiness to my life!
Peace and Blessings

PS- it's bubble wrap appreciation day... GET POPPIN'!

a calendar made of bubblewrap?! What a brilliant idea

Sweet Brown, I couldn't agree more!

It's a new Dawn. It's a new Day. It's a new Life...

I promised to post sooner. I lied. It's been busy around these parts. Also, my blog hasn't been letting me upload pictures. I've tried for 2 weeks now. And you can't just have a blog without pictures. It's not right. I finally just downloaded Google Chrome and it fixed the problem! Thank you Alex for the suggestion. So, I'll try to condense a months worth of activities into a few paragraphs.

First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS! The season was happy and bright with parties, presents, food, family, laughter, and a few extra pounds (curse those goodie plates) !

I got kicked out of my room on Christmas Eve. I slept in the living room and awaited Santa's arrival. Don't mind if I do :)

Twinners. I really want to burst out and sing the song "Sisters" from White Christmas, but it's not appropriate since that's my mom. She could pass for my sister though... Look how young she looks! She's a beauty.

Alex had to work Christmas. Isn't that horrible?! We did our Christmas together when he was off. 11:30pm. Pretty late. 11:30 couldn't come soon enough though, I was so excited to give him his present!

I custom made a deck of cards with our picture on the front and it read "52 things I love about you". On the back of the card I wrote down the reasons.

I also made him a calendar for 2013. Each month had pictures of us, quotes, and little things that were significant in our relationship. Such as, "Our first kiss, first dance, etc."

I struggled opening my present from him. The bows were tied just a little too tight. It took me at least 5 minutes to untie them. You can see the look of determination on my face in this picture. He got me a fun pair of skinny jeans, and cute skirt, and a bracelet to match the skirt. It was perfect!

HO HO HO! Merry Christmas!

I had so much fun making his present! He loved it! It was a great Christmas. I was spoiled by many! And it was so great to spend time with family and friends. I love the holiday season for that reason. OH, and I forgot to mention one of my other gifts... an I- PHONE 5! LOVE IT :)

Another tradition, Cotant family party with a white elephant gift exchange. This year we had more people then we've ever had. There was probably 60 plus. It was fun to see family we usually only get to see if there's a wedding or funeral.

Beth got some sweet glasses for her gift.

More glasses! HAPPY NEW YEAR kit was my gift until the end. It was taken away from me..
Just can't seem to get away from the glasses. Alex's were broken though..

We spent some time with Alex's family in Utah. His cousin just left on a mission to Washington D.C. so we went down to her farewell talk in Layton. There was lots of laughter in this short trip. When you get Alex and his brother Bronson in the same room you better watch out. They tell jokes, quote tv shows, and basically make you pee your pants just a little bit because you're laughing so hard. I will add though, I even had a few good jokes up my sleeve that day. I was on a roll, and that rarely happens :)

What better way to ring in the new year with a little bit of BOWLING?! We rented out two lanes new years eve night at Pine Bowl and got our bowl on for sure!

Here we go, I can now sing the song "sisters". "Sisters! Sisters! Never such devoted sisters!..." I can't remember the rest of the song. All you need to know is that we're SISTERS!

Sparkling cider was a must before midnight as well. From the looks of this picture though, I don't look sober.. Maybe we got the wrong stuff! haha

I didn't get any pictures right at midnight. But we all toasted to the new year, did a Rockett kick dance, and I received a new years kiss! Can't be any happier about that. Now time to set some goals and achieve some greatness this year! I did make a few goals for the year, realistic ones too. But I didn't make them until a week after new years. I was a little behind this year. I wrote them down, so I can look back on them as a reminder to keep trying, even if I get off track a little bit. It's all about progressing and getting better :) So if you've already failed at one of your goals, don't get all depressed about it and quit because you didn't accomplish it. Pick yourself up and try again! There's always room for second chances... or even third or fourth chances! Don't kill yourself..just write a sad poem in your journal and move on.. :)

Date night with the Farnsworth's. Jill isn't quite a Farnsworth yet, but she will be soon! Last date night we had with them they lost at our bowling bet and owed us a photo session and ice cream. They decided to pay up on the ice cream, but not the photo session. That will be in the near future sometime. We went to Arctic Circle and had shakes. The ice cream was sour.. yuck. After ice cream we headed back to Jill's for some games! But first and foremost we had to show Taylor the greatest videos of all time on Youtube. "Sassy Gay Friend." Look it up. They're goodies and fun to quote :)

This game can be quite hard. We just disregarded the hard ones and picked the ones we wanted. We all liked the acting/singing cards. Performing must be what we were born to do! Taylor and I did some awesome "humming" to Michael Jackson's, Billie Jean.

In the midst of all the fun, I took a fall. A hard fall! I was trying to scoot my chair back on the carpet to get a picture of Jill, and while I was doing that the legs of the chair caught the carpet and I went tumbling backwards! I hit the cupboard and probably broke the chair. As I lay on the ground laughing, the group didn't hesitate to snap pictures of me. hahaha. Jill couldn't stop laughing and kept saying, "the look on your face was priceless." Taylor said, "I could have grabbed you and tried to stop you from falling... but I didn't." hahaha thanks Taylor! And Alex was in a whole other world. He didn't see what happened until I was on the ground. The fall was a great way to end the night!

Much more has happened in "The 'really good' like of Emily A." but I can't seem to get my other pictures uploaded from my phone to the computer. Once I figure that out I'll post some more. I can't believe it's the middle of January already. 2013 is going to be a FABULOUS year! So many good things to come this year.  And can I just say, I can't wait until SUMMER! I've been itching to go boating. It can't come soon enough! Adios for now, until next time
PEACE AND BLESSINGS!

PS- I'm now officially the proud owner of my car! WOOOHOOO!
